When reading through information about the plastic pollution epidemic we are facing I often find the facts and figures astounding, almost unreal. Unfortunately however the problem is very real. Read on to hear some Facts about plastic pollution which may surprise you. 


In July 2017, Zimbabwe announced a total ban on expanded polystyrene (EPS), a styrofoam-like material used for food containers that takes up to 1 million years to decompose. 


According to Clean Up Australia, Australia is one of the largest waste producers in the world, second only to the US.


A report by the Guardian found that 1 million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute!!


The first total ban on plastic bags was introduced in 2002 by the government of Bangladesh.

Improper disposal of plastic bags in Bangladesh was causing an increasing in Malaria and Dengue Fever as water ways were being blocked leading to stagnant water and more mosquitos.
