Simple Skincare Routine For Men

Just like women, it’s important that men also look after their skin. Adopting a simple skin care routine can make all the difference to your skin's health and appearance. If you are new to skincare, then try not to get overwhelmed by the different serums and oils. Let’s look at the basics to help you come up with a simple skin care regime that wont take up too much of your time.

Step 1 - Cleanse twice a day

For thoroughly clean skin you need to use more than water. Using a cleanser will effectively rinse away excess oils and dirt. Are you already using soap and water? Just remember that most soaps can damage the skin by drying it out which can also lead to dry skin, irritation and redness.

Step 2 - Exfoliate (scrub once a week)

Your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells to make room for new cells every 30 days or so. Sometimes, dead cells don’t shed completely. Using a facial scrub once a week can remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin leaving your skin feeling rejuvenated and giving you a healthy glow.  Remember to use gentle circular motions you don’t need to scrub too hard.

Step 3 - Always moisturise

This can be the final step in your back to basics skin care routine. Men are more likely to have oily skin, don't let this fool you. Blackheads and breakouts often occur when skin is lacking in moisture. Skin that doesn’t have enough moisture can perpetuate fine lines and wrinkles adding years to the appearance of your skin. So moisturise twice a day.

Tip - Always apply moisturiser to your face and neck after cleansing. (Preferably whilst your skin is still damp) and use upward circular motions.

Step 4 - Sun protection

Sun exposure damages our skin by drying it out and changing the texture and weakening the elasticity of the skin making it the biggest culprit of aging skin. You could opt to choose a moisturiser with SPF protection already included for immediately daily protection. However it's also worth investing in a natural sunscreen to use throughout the day and to give extra protection.
